JOB OPPORTUNITY

DNV Energy Systems is looking for a Consultant Decarbonisation based in Arnhem (the Netherlands) or Antwerp (Belgium) to support the Energy Advisory – Energy Markets & Technology department within DNV.

The candidate will get the opportunity to provide quantitative and qualitative consultancy services to our customers, execute projects related to decarbonisation and participate in sales activities. This can include implementation of energy management systems, roadmapping, greenhouse gas inventories, dashboarding etc. Our client portfolio ranges from the industrial customers, through electricity market parties and network operators, to governments and (investment) banks. We support them to realize their goals and ambitions in the journey to become net zero.

The overall purpose of the job is to help DNV safeguard life, property and the environment and achieve our company vision: To be a trusted voice to tackle global transformations.

ROLE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Consultant Decarbonisation your responsibilities will relate to two types of activities:

  • Consultancy:
    • Grow as an expert on decarbonisation and energy efficiency and use this knowledge and experience in our projects for our customers.
    • Be a technical expert and combine that with the role of project manager or task manager.
    • Advise our clients in our projects about decarbonisation, energy management and greenhouse gasses.
    • Do quantitative and qualitative analyses for the projects you are working on.
    • Contribute to greenhouse gas inventories for Scope 1, 2 and 3.
    • Identify strategies to reduce the emissions in line with the ambitions of our customers.
    • Write reports and advices to our customers.
    • Contribute to clear and high-quality presentations and reports.
    • Work together with colleagues and experts in projects.
    • Act as a trainer for our ISO 500001 implementation trainings (on average two per year).
  • Sales:
    • Support in selling new projects to grow our business.
    • Build a network with potential clients.
    • Identify market opportunities and develop our services based on these market needs.
    • Participate in customer meetings and workshops.
    • Prepare quality proposals addressing the needs of our customers.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify you must have, i.e. essential skills:

  • Academic degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, with a specialization in Energy and/or Sustainability. Examples are a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences or (Sustainable) Energy.
  • Up to 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Good command over verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English. French will be considered a plus.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in decarbonisation processes and greenhouse gas analyses.

Key competencies, skills and personal attributes:

  • Strong skills and capabilities to develop yourself as a consultant.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team.
  • Being able to understand the technical consequences of a business decision as well as the business consequences of a technical decision.
  • Ability to handle complex (technical) problems.
