Job summary:

This is a role in the Low Carbon Energy Procurement team at bp focused on delivering bp’s ambitions of 50 GW of developed renewable generating capacity by 2030. Underpinning this growth is significant investment, and procurement is the forefront of managing this spend with suppliers, building relationships with the market, and delivering competitive outcomes with the business.

This role will primarily focus on offshore wind projects, though there may be the opportunity to support other projects in the green hydrogen, carbon capture and bioenergy areas. The role reports to the Vice President of Low Carbon Energy procurement.

The right candidate needs to develop deep market expertise and be a confident partner to the business teams in terms of understanding the offshore wind global markets, the supply base, and supply chain vulnerabilities

In this role you will:

  • Define approach to market and develop procurement strategy for offshore wind projects around the world;
  • Develop market intelligence of the offshore wind global markets, building strong knowledge of the supply base and supply chain vulnerabilities;
  • Support early stage offshore wind projects, recognizing supply chain risk and opportunity, and evaluating project viability;
  • Build effective collaborative relationships with stakeholders to promote a responsive, agile and professional collaboration;
  • Ensure continuous improvement and knowledge sharing;
  • Interface with other departments such as category management, sourcing etc.

We have the following requirements:

  • University degree;
  • Existing understanding of the Global Offshore Wind market with a focus on local supply chain development and supplier partnerships;
  • Substantial experience as an international project buyer in the offshore wind market;
  • Genuine passion for developing Low Carbon renewable solutions and excitement about the influence procurement has on this growth area;
  • Commercial mindset;
  • Confident negotiator with all levels of stakeholder and with experience in identifying value drivers and business development opportunities;
  • Analytical skills;
  • Capable of working in an agile way and being part of multi-disciplinary teams to achieve bp’s goals;
  • Willing to travelling when needed.
