The Role:

Platts Analytics is looking for a biofuels analyst to develop and drive our analytical service for the Europe, Middle East and Africa markets. The primary responsibilities will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience and abilities, but will be focused on identifying mechanisms and methods to support and develop our industry-leading biofuel analytics, providing original analytical thought on these markets, creating compelling content, and engaging with customers and potential customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate your capability as a subject matter expert for the biofuels market, contributing to a wide range of Platts publications covering topics such as biofuels prices, supply/demand, manufacturing margins, mandates, trade and other pertinent issues;
  • Take a leading role in coordinating research and analytical content for Europe, Middle East and Africa, including forecasting biofuels prices, supply/demand, trade and policy;
  • Having a complete understanding of the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive and the mandates in each of the countries within the EMEA region;
  • Maintain and further develop meaningful business relationships with producers, traders and users in the global biofuels markets in order to source market information and to ensure that Platts Biofuels Analytics are front-of-mind;
  • Ensuring the most effective and efficient handling of substantial data volumes;
  • Deliver succinct, high-quality written content that demonstrates the expertise outlined above;
  • Create charts, graphs and other visual content that illustrates the trends Platts’ customers need to follow;
  • Articulate expertise and thought-leadership through a variety of media including podcasts, webinars, video, and speaking engagements.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Five years of biofuels market analytics experience. Additional experience in other markets, e.g. energy, agricultural commodities, gasoline, would be advantageous;
  • Excellent communication skills which include a concise written style, excellent verbal skills, and the ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally;
  • Willingness and ability to anticipate and respond to customer needs and market changes;
  • Strong presentation skills are required;
  • Strong Excel skills are required;
  • Experience in modelling, forecasting and quantitative analysis would be advantageous;
  • Fluency in relevant foreign languages would be advantageous;
  • BA Degree in relevant field e.g. Economics, Business, Statistics preferred.
