What you’ll do

  • Act as main expert coordinating a structured and competent approach to Sustainability performance in mills and continuous improvement of our environmental performance
  • Driving and leading projects and initiatives to continuously improve sustainability performance across mills and our supply chain
  • Work with mill environmental managers and coordinate joint activities around clean run, 2030 environmental targets, and other cross-cutting tasks.
    • Coordinate and communicate target setting
    • Interface with mill management teams
    • Ensure consistent environmental targets
    • Engage in crisis mitigation and communication where necessary
  • Act as main expert monitoring market and operations-related environmental regulation
    • enable consistent follow up at business level
    • plan and conduct impact and risk assessments
  • Work with UPM Group Environment and Responsibility team to support joint initiatives in Environmental Reporting, Clean Run and Environmental Technology, Social Sustainability and Sustainability Marketing
  • Act as a sustainability expert to UPM customers and work with customers to fulfil their reporting needs
  • Inform sustainability related marketing activities
  • Support commercialization of UPM Communication Papers sustainability performance
  • Support valuation of UPM’s sustainability performance by customers and key market influencers
  • Support external recognition of UPM Communication Papers sustainability agenda in relevant expert communities
  • Take an active role in industry associations, industry alliances and externa speaking opportunities to represent UPM adequately and provide a relevant outside in perspective

Who you are

  • You have studies in Environmental Management, Sustainability Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Engineering or related subjects with relevant practical experiences
  • You have 5 years working experience related to sustainability or environmental responsibility in production
  • You have an in depth understanding of key environmental and sustainability trends and regulation
  • You have strong communication skills and interest in actively educating on sustainability
  • You have a strong commercial mindset and interest in developing sustainability as a clear value add in the market
  • You have a proven ability to pro-actively develop functional strategies and lead informal teams to implementation of these strategies
  • You have proven skills as a speaker
  • You have fluent written and spoken English, German and Finnish speaking skills support the efficiency of the role
