Role Summary:

GE is looking for key engineers to develop a new segment within its Wind business where innovation and entrepreneurship are key attraction elements.

The Land Constrained Electrical System Integration Leader is part of the onshore wind product design process and is a key person for successful, high quality NPI execution.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will demonstrate technical accountability and cross-functional leadership for the electrical system of one of our globally used wind turbine platforms. You will lead product development projects, from business requirement definition and technical trade-offs to prototype installation and serial production.

The teams scope includes the overall electrical system of our wind turbine products and its components like Generators, Transformers, Power Conductors, Cable Harnesses, Converters, Electrical Switchgears & Control Cabinets etc.

The broad scope of the team and the global responsibilities of this position provide great opportunity to drive engineering excellence and quality, as well as to optimize the wind turbine electrical system with respect to performance, cost and reliability.

  • Lead and drive the execution of Engineering design work on NPI programs. E.g. cost out, services programs, new products, etc. Lead the execution of the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Execute trade-offs on electrical wind turbine components and evaluating impact of changes to thermal system or environmental conditions on them.
  • Ensure compliance of components and their use to international codes and standards.
  • Responsible for interfacing with cross functional teams inside and outside of engineering to execute new product (NPI and Windfarm specific) program/project deliverables within cost and schedule targets.
  • Plan & organize technical program reviews, and participate as a presenter or reviewer.
  • Ensure the electrical system functionality and/or capability meets product requirements, through a clear breakdown of overall requirements to the electrical system and its components.
  • Proactively interface with internal/external clients/suppliers involved in the design projects: GE customer, Wind farm electrical system designer, Certification bodies, Application Engineering, Sales and Tender, Transport and Installation, PMO, Sourcing.
  • Support the platform team in driving decisions on utilizing existing components or identifying strategic uprates.
  • Provide timely communication on significant issues, necessary changes to the plan and achievements, as well as providing recommendations on next moves.
  • Execute Engineering design work on some wind turbine components, including full component ownership.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks, in consistency with engineering policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proven industry experience in Electrical System and/or component design.
  • Familiar with the characteristics, capabilities and limiting factors of the electrical system of a wind turbine or other electrical systems of similar complexity.
  • Ability to pull together teams across functions to drive consensus and decisions.
  • Program Management skills, experience and attitude.
  • Positive mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment.
  • Availability to travel 10% of the time.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Green/Black Belt or full-time quality role experience.
  • Offshore Wind turbine product/Windfarm knowledge and experience.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute multiple new product (NPI) program deliverables in parallel.
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
