Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to lead contracting process within East Anglia HUB project from the definition of the contracting strategy to place the contract after leading the tendering process and negotiations with the bidders and managing the contract during the execution phase up to final settlement.

Belonging to the Operations Department and reporting to the Principal Contract Manager you will be responsible for establishing a team of experts to define contracting strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating and managing multi-million offshore delivery contracts.

The Lead Contract Manager would work closely with the supply chain and maintain high level relationships with the major suppliers and contractors. You will ensure that SPR maintains very effective and value adding relationships with the suppliers which will enhance our ability to deliver against our business strategy.

The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK and overseas and during development, contracting and delivery of projects (large packages) the individual should be prepared to manage teams working at different project locations.

Responsibilities

Tasks for this role will include:

  • Detail contractual assessments to support project business case: Monitoring contractor performance in the project, to ensure quality, H&S and cost targets are met and ensuring the project is implemented in a manner consistent with the contract terms and with sound commercial and risk management principles;
  • Implement the necessary processes and procedures required to develop and contract Wind Turbine (and related works) for the specific project;
  • Oversee the negotiation and completion of a specific set of contracts for wind turbine agreements;
  • Anticipate contractual and commercial risks, opportunities and threats to the project and implement control measures or actions;
  • Oversee that projects comply and follow standard processes and procedure while developing or executing each wind farm;
  • Add value by maintaining relationships with all contractor and suppliers;
  • Coordinate all legal and procurement activities for the project area;
  • Management of Supply Chain strategy for the specific area of the project;
  • Drive continuous improvement in contractual strategies, commercial parameters and contractual terms and conditions;

Skills and Requirements

  • We are looking for individuals with significant experience in contracting processes; the ability of managing multidisciplinary teams; experience in contracting strategies definition and execution; significant technical and practical knowledge of offshore wind technology; strong knowledge of industry standards; knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation;
  • Ideally someone with the capability of delivering against multiple targets, pro-active and a high degree of self-motivation.

To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate as a minimum:

  • Degree qualification in a relevant discipline;
  • Significant experience in the energy sector, ideally within Renewables;
  • Proven track of contract negotiation and contract management;
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software;
  • Flexible to travel around Europe.
